Dear Jeff and Steve, We have been out of town for several days and are so sorry to have missed the visitation. We met your dad at Autumn Woods while doing Bible studies there and spent many pleasant hours just talking with him. We also visited him once at Jeff's home. He was a kind, thoughtful, intelligent man whom we will miss. Please let us know if there is any way we can be of help to you.

To the Huster family, We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad and Grandfather. Tracey was my grandparents, Charles and Georgia Sullivan's nephew and we've known him our whole lives, most recently seeing him years ago when he was still getting around. He would visit our families, ours and my sisters' for the holidays and it just didn't seem like Thanksgiving or Christmas if he wasn't there. My heart is breaking for his family because we know he'll be sorely missed. Kathy Mathews

Story shared: Best Dad

Our Father had his stroke when he was 81. This changed his life dramatically. Prior to 2000, he was independent, actually played tennis 3 times a week, and had just bought a Subaru Outback. He was a superb driver. Jeff and I agree that we can’t remember Dad ever having an accident, but we do remember all the repairs he did for all our accidents. Anyone who knew Tracey Huster knew they had a friend who would be there at any time to lend a helping hand. He gave of himself unselfishly, from transporting, repairing, construction, and just sharing his common sense and good advice. Dad was so versatile. He would adapt to many situations, both good and bad, sometimes with and sometimes without expression. He would just do whatever had to be done. He constructed, from the ground up, two houses that we lived in, while working at Reisterstown Post Office. Dad was an active Reisterstown Fire Fighter and a long time member of the Lions Club, serving as President at one point. He would take on positions at the church and built the Alter at Reisterstown United Methodist Church. We were fortunate to travel as a family. Maybe Dad did not love the camping, but he seemed to be happiest when he was driving. And drive he did! He visited all 50 states, driving to 49 of them, at least once! He was always there to help us on our projects. Maybe mine were a little more “out there” than Jeff’s but either way, he was ready to help. Dad has passed on to a better place. He was tired and ready to go. I actually think he held on so long for us and of course because he was under of the great care of Jeff. If it wasn’t for my Brother Jeff, giving Dad his utmost attention over the past 12 years, He would have given up long ago. Jeff has seen to Dad’s every need since his stroke. Jeff put his life on hold. This was Jeff’s choice, but for Jeff, it was the natural thing to do. My Brother deserves a standing ovation and my deepest gratitude. - Steve

I'm sorry about hearing about Mr. Huster's death. The last time I saw him was at my father's viewing in October of 1997. I sort of grew up, so to speak, with Steve and Jeff, and spent many hours in the woods throwing clods of dirt at each other. Mr. Huster could just about make or build anything, and I recall that motorized car he made out of an old reel-type lawn mower. I may have been a little big for it, but we sure all had fun with it! Sorry to see another of the WWII vets pass, as well. God bless him, and grant him peace, and also to those who were near and dear to him.

Tracey Huster was a great man who loved his family dearly. Tracey was generous to everyone he knew and always concerned about doing the right thing. As a father, his warmth and good humor carried the family through good times, as well as those occasional challenges that usually come with raising sons. He paid close attention to detail when it mattered, but would just let the little things slide. The Husters brought me into their family and treated me as another son with Steve and Jeff. They always took me along on family excursions for swimming, roller skating, car racing, parades and ice cream! Tracey was truly a dad to me - I learned so many things from the way he lived his life, and I will always treasure those memories. - Donnie

Mr. Huster was a very talented man; my memories of him are too many to write but watching him build a fireplace at his sons Broadview house, was an amazing sight. He meticulously laid each stone and what seemed to me to be in an amazingly short amount of time, produced a timeless work of art. How wonderful it must have been for Steve to learn from his father so many skills of building and fixing things. In my house is a work of art made by friend Charlie in a frame built by Mr. Huster out of driftwood. I am so lucky to have something made by this talented man. I enjoyed many conversations and always learned from his experience in life, that he would gladly share. May he rest in peace in heaven, where I hope to see him again one day.

I only met your dad recently, but he made me laugh. He was recouperating at a facility and complaining about the food. The fish didn't taste like fish! He really missed his son's (Jeff's) cooking. You were so dear to him Jeff, and he was so lucky to have you. He had a long happy life because of you and I know you will miss him.
